For as long as I can remember, the sound of the handloom and the touch of pure silk have been a central part of my life. Growing up in Tamil Nadu, I watched the women in my family drape these vibrant sarees and became fascinated by how a single piece of fabric could carry so much grace and history. To me, a silk saree is never just a garment; it is a piece of art that keeps our traditional heritage alive.
Over the years, I made it my mission to go beyond just appreciating the beauty of silk. I visited weaving centers, spoke with master craftsmen, and learned the technical side of the trade—from the strength of the 3-ply thread and the purity of the zari weight to the meaning behind traditional motif patterns. I saw how difficult it was for buyers to find truly authentic drapes amidst so much market confusion, and I wanted to build a transparent source people could completely trust.
The real turning point came from my husband, Rajarajan. Seeing my deep knowledge and dedication to the craft, he encouraged me to turn my passion into a business. Together, we built Varnangal as a direct link between traditional master weavers and serious saree lovers.
Today, through Varnangal, I focus heavily on pure Thirubuvanam silk sarees. These GI-tagged weaves are special because of their heavy weight, dense structural strength, and traditional Visirimadippu fan-fold finish. Every saree in our store is personally inspected by me and carries 100% Silk Mark certification.
